Foxwoods
still waiting on decision regarding web site issue
Last
month, Foxwoods officials put an abrupt halt to its
online promo PlayAway after a State order to do
so took place. After submitting information to
the state Division of Special Revenue, Foxwoods reps
felt confident that the promo was perfectly legal and
that the State would relent.
Stating
that the game violates the state law that prohibits interactive
online lottery games as well as the state/tribal gaming
compact and the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act,
the game has been discontinued permanently.
Feeling
that the game infringes strict online casino gaming
laws, both State and Federal, by allowing patrons of the
site to interact with casino results happening at the
land casino, the State has given it's final decision. The Mashantuckets,
who own and operate the tribal casino that has been very
successful in Connecticut, were almost positive that
they would be able to start the game back today. This is
a surprise to them, no doubt.
Basically,
the online promo allowed online patrons of the site to
view results from Keno wagers placed at the actual land
casino.
