Roulette Rules

Roulette is a game that is both easy to learn and incredibly fun. It is one of the more popular casino games that provides a huge choice of bets with lots of varying odds. The typical Roulette Wheel is numbered from 1 to 36 and also contains a 0 and a 00 (however, some casinos do not have the 00, depending on the type of games they offer). Each numbered slot on the wheel are alternately colored red and black, with the exception of the 0 and/or 00 which is green colored. To begin a game, all active players must place their bets (this must be done before the ball hits the spinning wheel, or when the Dealer calls “No more bets”.

There are several bets available in a game of Roulette, and these bets can be changed between each and every round if you wish. Some of the most basic bets are described below by Casino Games World:

Single Number or Straight Up - Betting on a single number

2 Number - Split - Betting on the line separating two adjoining numbers on the table

3 Numbers - Across - Betting on any three adjoining numbers on a table.

4 Numbers - Corner - Betting on four numbers on the table whose positions form a square. This bet is made by placing your chip on the center point of the square formed.

6 Number Across - Betting on six numbers that form two rows of three. To make this bet, you simply put your chip(s) line to the left of the first number in the series and between the two rows of numbers.

Section - 12 Numbers - also known as 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12 - This is a bet that is made on which group you think the ball will land on (this does not include the zero(s)), 1 - 12, 13 -24 or 25-36. To place this bet, just place your chip on the marked section that corresponds to the bet you wish to place.

Column - also 12 Numbers - There are 3 ways to make this bet. The first way is that you can bet that the number that the ball will stop on will be in the first column, landing on 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, or 34; you can bet that it will be in the second column, landing on 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, or 35; or you can bet that the ball will land in the third column on 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, or 36. To place this bet, place your chips in the square at the bottom of the column you wish to bet on.

1 - 18 or 19 - 36 - This bet involves betting that the ball will either land on a number between one and eighteen or nineteen and thirty-six, and is simply made by putting your chip on either the section marked “1 to 18" or the section marked “19 to 36".

Odd or Even - Another bet that you can place is on whether the number that the ball stops on will be odd or even (this bet does not include the zeros) and is made by placing your chips on the “Odd” or “Even” section.

Red or Black - Possibly the most popular way to bet is on which color the ball will stop on; red or black. To make this bet, put your chips on either the section marked "Red" or "Black".

Once each player has placed their bets, play can begin and the Dealer spins the ball against the spinning of the Roulette wheel. The only thing left to do is to wait until the ball stops and for the dealer to place a marker on the winning numbers. Winning players are paid accordingly and the process begins anew.
